July July
Lots to do this month. Just put down another chapter of Archie Snow, and then there's work to be done on Proof #25, more Archie, another backup story and a pitch. Plus, mothers and fathers and all of that.

Roman holiday
Hey everybody,
I have been hella-busy getting everything ready to go go go... to Rome. My girl and I are going to stay with friends in Rome for a few days, and then it's on the road to Barcelona. We'll be there for a week, and then off to London and then home.
I apologize for not having anything to post today. I have finished "The Bull and the China Shop" for Proof #22 and I colored Wes Wedman's beautiful backup story... Both will be available at the end of July. I won't be around to talk about Proof #21, but it's got the longest and most action-packed stretch of Archie Snow goodness yet.

Montreal Comic Con sketches & The A-Team
The Montreal Comic Con was this past weekend, and it was a good time. It was busy, much busier than I thought it would be. I was drawing and chatting the whole time I was there. Lots and lots of kids, too, which was awesome to see. Little Supermen and Spider-Men running around. Kids have the best sketch requests. One darling little French girl asked for a penguin, and her sister wanted a flower!
I did tons of drawings and a lot of guys have been nice enough to email me jpegs.

Try not to hum The A-Team theme all day. It will be impossible for me.
I don't know if you heard (I can't stop thinking about it!) but Liam Neeson is in talks to play the part of Col. John "Hannibal" Smith in Joe Carnahan's upcoming A-Team movie. Hannibal Smith was a hero of mine when I was a little kid; my parents had a van, so my brother would play B.A. or Murdock and I'd be driving around as Hannibal.
I bought new ink quills the other night, and I was dying to try them out, so out came Hannibal.

I will be at the Montreal Comic Con this coming Sunday. It's at Place Bonaventure downtown. I'll have some comics, pages, minicomics, and sketches to show and sell. Come talk to me about transformers and Pixar and vampires and other things I'm currently obsessed with.
SPEARMINT, ARCHIE SNOW preview
This is a Souvenir: Songs from Spearmint & Shirley Lee comes out today, from Image Comics. I am in it. Trust me. My name isn't on it, but I'm in there. My story is "It Won't Be Long Now", which was produced with Richard Starkings in September of last year. I can't wait to see how it looks.

So my old pal Bill turned 40 yesterday. I hope this took some of the sting off. I personally can't wait until I'm eighty... Just really crusty and old and opinionated.

I will let you know when Legendary is available. Hopefully sooner than This is a Souvenir (original street date: Feb 3) which should be out next Wednesday and I will be talking about it.

Epic super-late TCAF recap
Hey hey, here's my TCAF post. Try not to have a heart attack and die from not-surprise that it's a wee bit on the late side, but honestly you'd rather that Proof #21 ship on time, right? That's what I thought.
ON TO THE SHOW
Drove up on Friday with the girls from Abe & Kroenen and talked about secret projects. So many awesome comics will come out of this, I am sure.
I met Kate Beaton! I was exactly as nervous meeting her as I was meeting Guy Davis in Baltimore last year. Just a monstrously talented person and it was a pleasure to enjoy a moment of her company and snare her book. The following comic is true:
Always awesome to see the Topatoco team; I've been a huge fan of Jeffrey Rowland's for years and years... In fact, the subtitle for Overcompensating (namely: 'the journal comic with a seething disdain for reality') was coined by me! Little known fact.
I run into Holly more than I do Jeffrey, to be honest, so here's the shoutout to my favorite team in webcomics:
While kicking it at TCAF I was crashing with R. Hiro, one of my favorite dudes ever. On Saturday night we decided to kick out the jams and produce some fresh comics about the experience. The following was done while eating pie and watching a Hercule Poirot mystery. Party times!
Other awesomeness from Saturday: kicking it with Scott C. (another of my favorite dudes ever), saying 'hey' to Stuart and Kathryn Immonen (the first couple of comix who are too, too patient with me), and hanging at the Joe Shuster table and doing some drawing. I drew a Zatanna!
Sunday was much busier, I wasn't so completely overwhelmed by the craziness of everything. Got to kick it with Tom Fowler for a bit, and finally meet Graham Annable (who is crazy talented and a really nice cat). Also? Becky Cloonan! Can you believe it?!
The reason that this comic kisses her butt is because more people should be sucking up to Becky Cloonan. Fact provable by science. Pixu is great, great, great horror comics; buy it immediately.
After kicking it with Becky for a spell, I cycled around and chatted up folks like Matt Forsythe and Ray Fawkes before sitting down at the Shuster Table until close. And that's that! Here's a bunch of people that walked by my table on Sunday. Easily the best-looking people at any convention ever, I think. Just a very sexy and handsome bunch.
See you in two, TCAF. It was a real slice.
